Many accommodations in Roatan result from adding extension after extension to an original island-style home. After-the-fact expansion often results in a perplexing floor plan and challenging logistics for the property’s use. We have experienced firsthand showers larger than the bedroom, kitchens without running water, air conditioning in one room only, a kitchen built into a closet, and more.
We purchased this property with the intention of creating a small lodging accommodation with just a couple of casitas & our final home, providing us with a social hobby as we move into the retirement phase of our lives.
After deciding on the island of Roatan, we spent three years looking for the right property before purchasing this location. We wanted to be very close to West End, but we were adamant that we could find a way to reduce the noise and congestion that come with that crazy amount of activity, especially during the evening hours. Finally, we believe we have found the perfect location.
We intended to build casitas that we would be willing to live in for an extended period, and that would be comfortable/practical to use while building our home. We handpicked the best features from the various places we’ve stayed over the years and ensured we eliminated the unappealing characteristics.

The two Casitas are almost identical, with the only noticeable difference being that the 2nd Floor Casita has a vaulted ceiling.
Just off our shore lies the world-famous Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, making Roatan one of the Top 10 dive and snorkel destinations on the planet. From vibrant coral walls to gentle sea turtles, every moment underwater feels unforgettable.
We are in a great location on the island for our guests who want to dive. There are three dive shops located within walking distance of us, with the closest one being just down the beach.
These neighborhood shops offer more of a boutique experience, with smaller groups and much more personalized interaction. However, if you’re looking for a more extensive group experience with overcrowded boats and lots of people (like all the cruise ships typically use), there are four shops within a mile of us. In addition, more than a dozen dive shops are nearby, offering just about any dive experience you can imagine.
The variety of dive sites in the local area is unmatched anywhere else on the island. Many of the dive shops on the island bring their guests for a long boat ride into this area to experience our local dive sites.
We offer our guests a complimentary, secure place to rinse, hang up, and store their equipment, and we will also provide transportation to any West End or Sandy Bay dive shop location once per day.
